Our water levels are creeping up but will likely remain below the long term average through the summer. The River Board is releasing less water than Plan 2014 prescribes to try and regain the water they let out over the winter. This situation highlights one of the issues with Plan 2014 in that they knew we had been in drought or near drought conditions and that we were receiving less snow than normal in the basin, yet the board did not make adjustments having that knowledge.
The placement of the walkways and entryway planting for the Beach Dune project has been delayed until next week. The plant material has yet to be shipped. The signs have also been ordered and will be installed when they are received.
The south side of the business district now has the granite curb and sidewalks installed. Installation on the curb on the north side will start on Monday and will be followed by sidewalk installation. The week of May 3rd will have the paving company on site to do some patching to make the road more usable. Also on Monday the gutter on the north side of Wickham Blvd is expected to begin. That work was delayed this week due to the weather. Once that is complete the paving company will clean that street up to make it more passable. All of the streets will be milled and leveled to the new elevations. That will occur sometime in June. The pump station in the loop has been placed; the piping is expected to be completed in the next 2 weeks.
The Grant Disbursement Agreement for the Lakestones project has been signed by the village. As soon as we get the countersigned copy we can finalize the bid for the project.
A walk through with the DEC is being scheduled for White Birch so that we can all walk through some of the plans and maintenance activities that are required. Getting approval on the Maintenance plan and a few remaining easements is all that is left to get this project to 100% Design approval. Construction will likely wait until the Fall to insure a great summer for the park residents.
The streetlight contractor is now working in the village. The retrofit kits are being installed in a ring that began around the village hall. They have 2 crews working. We will learn more about the remaining schedule next week at a scheduled meeting.
REMINDER: Water and sewer bills are due on April 30th, one week from today. Any bills not paid by then are re-levied on the village tax bill with a $50 penalty.
Wayne County continues to have many COVID19 vaccination clinics. Check their web site or Facebook page. They pop up fast and I have found that to be the easiest route to an appointment. The pharmacies are also expanding their eligibility.
Feel free to call or email with any questions or concerns.
