There are Emergency Orders in place for the Village and a ‘No Wake’ 1000 ft from shore on Sodus Bay. (see distances)   All sandbags have been placed. If you experiencing flooding and need sandbags delivered please call the Village office at 315-483-9881. These are for Village residents only.

Update from 05-10-2019

We will have a public information meeting tomorrow, Saturday, May 11th at 10 am in the fire hall. We’ll provide any updates at that time.

Today’s water level is 247.94, about a foot less than the highest water seen in 2017. After a week of steady increases, the outflow was reduced early today and we will see the rate increase for a day or two. All the areas identified in our plan have been sandbagged. After the 30 mph winds yesterday we have determined that the walls all need to be a bit higher. The national guard will be here today to finish the south side. The New York State Department of Corrections (DOCS) crew will be here Monday to do the north side.

Sandbags for residents who want more are available in the north municipal parking lot on the north end.

All the pumps are functional and are being turned on as needed. At this point, only the pump past Arney’s and the pumps on the loop are running 24/7.

We were able to install a standpipe at the Clover Street lift station. This will allow us to use our force main as the pipe to the wastewater plant if we need to use a larger capacity pump. At this point, the normal system is functioning well. Our flows are up but nowhere near the levels we saw in 2017.

The ‘No Wake Zone’ emergency orders have been modified. At this time the order states no wake within 1,000 feet of shore. This map shows where the bay is wide enough to allow normal travel.

If you need a sump pump to keep your yard or crawl space pumped out, the village has negotiated a 10% discount at Plassche Lumber in Sodus. They have many on hand and can get more if needed.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
