This Sunday, September 1st the Sunshine Antique Car parade will kick off at 6 pm. The normal route will be followed through the village. Following the parade, fireworks sponsored by Jack’s, Marlin’s and Six50 on the Bay will begin at 9 pm. I hope everyone can enjoy this celebration.
The Lake Ontario REDI meeting #3 will be held Thursday, August 29th at 10:30 am in the Wayne County Public Safety Building. This is a public meeting and an opportunity to view the project list. I expect we will also get a sense for costs as determined by the state’s engineers.
The Lake Ontario REDI meeting #4 is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11TH, AT 1:00 P.M, at the Wayne County Board of Supervisors Chambers, 2nd Floor, 26 Church Street in Lyons.
Regarding the program for homeowners, we have been told that the application will be available on the HCR web site (https://hcr.ny.gov/) by October 1st. You can express your interest and get updates directly from the State by registering on their website at https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/5171337/Lake-Ontario-St-Lawrence-River-2019-Homeowner-Assistance?
In the meantime, work to get estimates for what you need to get done on your property.
Our water level is now below 247.5. I expect the No Wake speed limit to be removed before the weekend. NYS Homeland Security will be in the village after Labor Day to remove the pumps and the aqua dams. A few people have asked for the contact information for our representatives and the IJC. That can be found on our web site here: https://soduspoint.info/state-and-federal-representatives/
If you want compost material to place around your sandbags or elsewhere in your yards, please call the village office. As long as we are under a state of emergency, we will bring it to your driveway. We are encouraging everyone to leave the sandbags in place as every indication points to high water in 2020.
The kayak launch on South Ontario Street will be installed on Wednesday, August 28th. We expect it will be functional by the end of the day. More development in that area will occur in 2020 once a drainage project is completed. Martin’s Tidesides and Katlynn Marine have both contributed in-kind work and services to this grant-funded project.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
