I would like to express my thanks to Howard and Cory Potter for arranging the Sunshine Car Parade. This event was enjoyed by approximately 90 vehicles and 100’s of people along the route. The Sheriff Department with assistance from the NYSP did an excellent job with traffic control. I would also like to thank Wallington Fire Department, Alton Fire Department and the Sodus Center Fire Department for their help with the Fireworks show. Young Explosives put on a great show as we celebrated the unofficial end of summer.
The final paving will wrap up this week on the storm water project. There are a few areas that are being reviewed to make sure the final grades were achieved. The landscaper still has plenty of work to do to get their part finished. All of the pumps have been successfully tested and operate as expected. We will be conducting some additional tests to learn how quickly the system can be emptied and to adjust the floats in the wet wells. Next the pavement markings will all go down and clean-up of the various lay down yards will be completed.
The Lakestones project is out to bid. Proposals are due on October 1st at 2pm. The Board will take action at its October meeting.
The final plantings on the Dune project will occur later this month or early next. At that time any adjustments to the sand grading will also occur.
Our water levels ended August 2.5 inches below the long term average. Certainly within the range of normal levels. The 6 month forecast that was just released indicates we can expect to stay about normal through January. Over the last 12 months, the Lake Ontario basin received just 87% of normal precipitation including a very wet July. Supplies from the upper lakes remain high, almost double normal last month.
