I have recently heard that there is a rumor that our storm water project is running out of money. That is not true. We continue to track well within our budget. At this point the contractor is working through a punch list of items that are best completed before final paving. There is a significant amount of landscaping work that remains to be done. Plantings on Wickham Blvd have started today. The pump stations are wired and ready to be exercised as soon as RG&E connects the power lines. This is expected to take a few days as each station will have to be tuned for start and stop levels. We will also be pumping water into the system to simulate various situations for testing. On Monday, the concrete contractor will be back to finish up the sidewalk work throughout the project. The paving sub-contractor is also tentatively scheduled to return next week. I realize the scheduling is hap hazard. Unfortunately we continue to be hampered by labor shortages, material shortages and now many school projects scrambling to be completed before school begins.
A walkthrough of the dune project will occur this week. That information will be used to determine the plantings and any other adjustments that need to be made this fall.
We have now received all of the permits for the Lakestones project. The bid spec will be published this week and a contractor is expected to be selected at the October Village Board meeting.
Verizon now has all the permits required to build the cell tower at the Wastewater Department. As soon as we know the construction schedule we will share it.
This Tuesday, August 31st there will be a Public Information Session regarding the proposed Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary off of our shorelines. Two members of the Advisory Council will be at the Fire Hall at 7pm for a brief presentation followed by a question and answer session. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what is proposed and the timeline to move this forward. This could be a good economic driver for our village. You can find more information at https://sanctuaries.noaa.gov/lake-ontario/
The Sunshine Auto Parade will be held on Saturday, September 4th at 6pm. Get your cars cleaned up for the (hopefully) smooth roads. Fireworks will follow at 9pm.
Feel free to call or email with any questions or concerns.
