The Planning Board consists of five members and one alternate members, appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees. Each member serves for five years, with one member’s term expiring each year. The Board’s public sessions are held at Village Hall, generally on the first and third Monday of each month.
The primary responsibility of the board is to review and approve site development plans to ensure any proposed development is in compliance with Village Zoning Code and is in accordance with goals outlined in the Village of Sodus Point Comprehensive Plan. The planning board is also responsible for the review and advisory opinions concerning applications for variances and amendments to the zoning regulations.
In addition, the Planning Board may advise the Village Board on zoning changes; new municipal facilities, such as streets, parking or recreation areas; and may review and recommend changes in the Comprehensive Plan.
