Village Update – November 21, 2018
All of the Village employees and Village officials would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!
The wastewater main repairs are now complete. The 49 lower manholes are also waterproofed. The 3 lower lift stations still need to be sealed in order to complete our flood remediation work to the wastewater system. The Village is working with engineers to make that happen.
Leaf collection was very short-lived due to the weather. The highway guys did come around this week and pick up what piles they could identify. We hope to be able to repeat that next week when the snow may be clear. Whatever leaves we do not get this fall we will get in the spring. Brush collection is over until April.
The ice rink is here. Later today all the Village employees will watch the training video for both setup and upkeep through the season. We hope to install the rink the week of Nov. 26th at Willow Park. The liner and the water will not be added until we have a sustained period of cold weather. We will let everyone know as soon as it’s ready for use.
Last week the board held another workshop with the architects regarding the Village Hall. Based on the costs shared, the inputs of both board members and the public we seem to be narrowing our location to Northwinds Marina or potentially rebuild on site. One of the original options was the bait shop across from the ball field downtown. That location may be sold but there is a possibility we could lease some space, although it would likely be a 2 story office. The architect has taken all the feedback and will advise when they are ready to meet again.
The Village Organizational meeting will be held December 3rd at 4 pm at the Village Hall. This is the meeting where we assign Commissioners to the various Village functions and reappoint any expired terms for the Planning and Zoning board members. The Village Organizational meeting, like all Village Board meetings, is open to the public.
